For service during World War II Australian personnel were awarded Imperial campaign medals. The same medals were issued to all Commonwealth personnel, and in addition Commonwealth countries generally issued a unique medal to recognise the service of their own people. In Australia the Australia Service Medal 1939-45 was issued.
The Pacific Star is awarded for a minimum of one days operational service in the Pacific Theatre of Operations between 8 December 1941 and 2 September 1945. This applies to land and air operations. One clasp was issued which was for Burma but this is not that common for Australians.
The above price is for the full size replica medal and 10" (25cm) of ribbon unmounted.
The cost to mount the medal is $20. So for example this medal mounted would be $45.
This medal is very common for WWII Australians as the majority served in the Pacifica area. Usually comes with 1939/45 Star, War Medal, Australian Service Medal 1939/45. If the recipient remained in the Pacific area for 30 days after 3 SEP 1945 then they may also be eligible for the Australian Service Medal 1945/75 which was not created until 1995 and which therefore may not have been applied for.
